Mark your calendars for the eighth annual NRV day of giving – June 23, 2021!

GiveLocalNRV, is the giving day that allows donors to support dozens of organizations in one place. Hosted by the Community Foundation of the New River Valley, this virtual fundraising effort offers NRV nonprofits the chance to raise thousands of dollars for the benefit of our community. The Community Group is pleased to be included!

The Community Group is an organization in Montgomery County dedicated to the enrichment of the African American community through non-partisan political action, education, and economic empowerment (community investment). Our members and our focus are dedicated to creating a fair and opportunity-driven environment for the residents of Montgomery County, VA.

One of The Community Group’s programs is the Dialogue on Race, now in its ninth year, working to combat racism in our community.

Maybe you’ve attended a Dialogue on Race Winter or Summer summit, participated in on going issue group meeting, or just supported in thought the Dialogue on Race. The Community Group founded and manages this ground-breaking movement. An example accomplishment is the work of the Law Enforcement issue group, one of five such action oriented teams. Law Enforcement’s members include the Blacksburg and Christiansburg Chiefs of Police and the Montgomery County Sheriff. They spurred the creation of the ACCE (Access to Community College Education) program for Montgomery County that provides full tuition payments for Montgomery County students to attend New River Community College. The students who receive ACCE support in turn provide 80 hours of community service. These students are of all races and are flourishing members of community thanks in part to the forward thinking and financial support that was catalyzed by the Community Group’s Dialogue on Race.

Now we need your support. Please, donate during the GiveLocalNRV June 23, 2021 campaign.

You can give now, set up recurring gifts, or wait until June 23.
